The largest installation of ABB-Welcome door entry system in Poland

ABB-Welcome has been installed in 533 apartments in the Silicon Housing Estate in Warsaw.

The Warsaw housing estate consists of 9 buildings designed for multi-family occupancy, each with an ABB-Welcome system. The installation is the largest of its type in Poland and lays the foundation for the addition of further smart home solutions for increased safety, comfort and the convenience of residents.

“Our solution ensures stable operation of hundreds of indoor stations, spread over many buildings situated several dozen meters away from each other. What’s important for the residents is that each apartment may create its own IP gateway, which will allow them to receive a call on mobile devices (a smartphone, a tablet) any place in the world, when someone visits their apartment,” says Jaroslaw Grabowski, Product Marketing manager at ABB.

The order includes 525 indoor stations with a standard audio handset, 14 outdoor video stations and a doorkeeper console located in nine buildings in the estate. ABB-Welcome intercoms are video ready as standard, which means users can simply replace an audio receiver with a video panel, if they wish to extend the system’s functionality. ABB-Welcome also allows neighbours from the same staircase to connect intercoms, as well as forward incoming calls during a resident’s absence.

With the outdoor video station, users can not only answer a caller using a smartphone from anywhere in the world, but with the unique IP gateway in each apartment they may have a permanent remote view of the housing estate’s surroundings with the option to take pictures. If the user is unable to answer a call via his mobile device, the station will take three photographs of the caller and send them to the user’s e-mail address. Users can also set the indoor station to forward calls to the doorkeeper’s console, e.g. during vacations, which increases apartment safety.

Additionally, indoor stations can be configured and integrated with the doorkeeper’s console so that a particular button, for example, can be used to signal to the doorkeeper that the resident needs help.

ABB-Welcome is one of the systems that make it easier to deploy new smart home solutions. When replacing the handset entry phone with a seven-inch video station, ABB-Welcome can be connected to an ABB-free@home® system and the intercom will become a common control panel for the system. The intelligent building’s sector is growing rapidly and according to the research company Ovum, 192 million units of smart home appliances will be sold worldwide by 2021. Thanks to ABB solutions, the Silicon Housing Estate is ready to embrace the future.
