VEGA Controls SA (Pty) Ltd supports local crime fighting initiative
VEGA donates funds to Honeydew Community Policing Forum
VEGA Controls SA (Pty) Ltd, has donated funds to the Honeydew Community Policing Forum in recognition of it’s service to the community. A cheque of R 50 000.00 was handed to Jon Rosenberg, the CPF’s spokesperson. Group Director John Groom said, “They are our unsung heroes. They deliver a service to the public and as a business, we support their cause.” He also thanked the attendees at the golf day for their generous contributions to a raffle which formed a part of the total sum.
The donation has been earmarked to assist in the operations of the Trauma Unit which has seen a decrease in funding but provides an essential free counselling service to victims of crime. Community Policing was created by the Police Act of 1995, and it is being used as a philosophy that guides police management styles and operational strategies, and emphasizes the establishment of police-community partnerships, with a problem solving approach responsive to the needs of the community.
A major objective of community policing is to establish an active partnership between police and the community through which crime, service delivery, and police-community relations can jointly be analysed, and appropriate solutions designed and implemented.
The CPF office runs purely on donations, they have Resident Associations, companies, and private individuals that donate on a monthly basis to this essential initiative, which serves all communities.
