Leading peristaltic pump manufacturers Verderflex recently installed one of their compact Verderflex Vantage 3000 dispensing tube pumps at Alliance Technical Laboratories Ltd in Suffolk, England.
At ATL, hygienic bags are filled with a sterile media for meat and other food packaging. They also regularly have to accurately dispense chemicals and other fluids. Previously, this was a laborious manual task, not only time consuming but prone to human error.
Peristaltic tube pumps maintain total isolation between the pumped liquid, the pump itself and the external world by totally enclosing the liquid inside an easily changed, sterilisable, short length of food and pharmaceutical grade tubing, eliminating the risk of contamination. This makes a peristaltic pump the perfect choice for aseptic applications where hygiene and sterility are critical to the process. It also means that there are no external moving parts that can clog or wear, so maintenance time is kept to a minimum.
The Verderflex Vantage 3000 pumps operate by gently squeezing the tube between the outer casing and a roller; as these rollers rotate they expel the liquid from the tube into the pump’s discharge side. On the suction or inlet side, the tube’s restitution creates a priming vacuum to refill the tubing. This simple pumping mechanism gives an accurate and repeatable dose at flows of up to 1310ml/min, eliminating the need to weigh or measure every dose before it is added to the bag.
Alliance Technical Laboratories Ltd chose the compact Verderflex Vantage 3000 pump as a quick and easy dosing system because it easily fits onto a bench, it is easy to control and works with a foot switch to simplify the dosing process. Additionally, a favourite feature is the Verderflex Vantage 3000’s programmable timed dose option which reliably dispenses a preset liquid volume. This gentle pump, ideal for shear sensitive media, is accurate and repeatable up to ± 0.5%, with no product slip, providing piece of mind dosing and dramatically speeding up this process.
Subject to material compatibility, the Verderflex Vantage 3000’s tubing is certified to FDA CFR 21, EC 1935/2004, USP class VI & NSF and can be sterilised by autoclaving, gamma irradiation or Ethylene Oxide. This sanitary element can be changed in just three very easy, simple steps without any tools in seconds, reducing downtime plus additional pump heads can be simply fitted to the pump, for simultaneous multiple doses from a single pump.
Verder Pumps recently launched the Vantage 5000, highly advanced next generation
peristaltic pump system with touch screen technology and intuitive operating system. Easy to operate, Verderflex Vantage 5000 offers an extremely user friendly operators menustructure with highly visible color coded on-screen status alerts and alarm indicators.
