Fibertex SA and Specifying Techniques collaborate in construction and mining sectors in Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique

Fibertex SA and Specifying Techniques collaborate closely in Namibia, Botswana and Mozambique, to optimise the efficiencies of geosynthetic products used in construction and mining projects.

“The Specifying Techniques team, with a thorough understanding of project specifications required by civil engineers, architects, quantity surveyors and contractors, matches Fibertex geosynthetic products to the exact requirements of every installation,” explains Lionel Kistan, export manager, Fibertex SA. “Typical applications for Fibertex materials include geotextiles for retaining walls, draining trenches and surface drains and geogrids for the reinforcement of slopes. Drainage pipes are used for subsoil drainage and geocells are highly efficient in slope stabilisation and for railway track beds.

“Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCLs) are suitable for efficient sealing barriers in landfills, dams and tailings dams. Composite drainage systems – like wick and fin drains – are used for subsoil drainage behind retaining walls in basement parking areas.”

The Fibertex range encompasses nonwoven and woven geotextiles, gabions and mattresses, drainage pipes and fittings, as well as erosion control and cellular confinement solutions. The company also supplies soil reinforcing products, including geogrids and geocells, as well as geosynthetic clay liners (GCL’s) as part of composite lining systems in modern landfills.

Fibertex UV stabilised virgin PP (polypropylene) geotextiles are the only nonwoven geotextiles produced in Africa, with certification for durability of over 100 years, in accordance with the latest EN standards.

Together, Fibertex and Specifiying Techniques offer a technical support service to clients, to ensure correct specification of durable and safe materials for high efficiency and extended service life, in every project.

Specifiying Techniques specialises in lead generation marketing and specifications services, which encompass product solutions, liaison with industry professionals, the provision of tender documents to price contractors, as well access to a project and professional database, which is the industry benchmark.
