Reliability Space™ analyzes substation health and pinpoints potential risks to grid reliability and availability

Hitachi Energy today announced the launch of Reliability Space, an advanced service program that uses digital tools to provide detailed snapshots and in-depth expert analysis to determine the current status and vulnerabilities of substations. This equips users with the information needed to make correct and timely decisions to ensure reliable and sustainable operations.

Substations are major investments that must be protected throughout their long service life. Maintaining their reliability and availability directly impacts business operations, be it renewable power generation, an industrial production process, data center or rail transportation network.

Reliability Space protects these critical investments with three service offerings: RelPlan™ helps design new substations for optimal availability and reliability; RelScan™ provides a detailed snapshot of a substation’s health and vulnerabilities; and RelScan™ Plus is a concrete life-extension plan tailored to customer needs.

The services are based on digital reliability models and analytics to create a virtual model of critical assets in the substation. With the support of digitally enabled intelligence, our experts perform a visual or remote inspection and assessment of the substation. Condition and importance are determined, vulnerability and probability of failure evaluated, and corrective action priorities identified. The outcome is a detailed action plan in which the financial and technical risks of assets in the substation are considered. Each service can be extended with a tailored maintenance plan based on reliability-centered maintenance or a 3D model of the substation.

“Reliability Space is an advanced service program for assessing substations´ key assets,” said Daniel Galvan, Global Head of Service for Grid Integration business. “It provides the optimal combination of site assessment, expert analysis and virtual models of live systems. It helps customers anticipate problems, reduce downtime and safety risks, optimize expenditure and ultimately increases grid resilience and sustainability.”

As a trusted partner, Hitachi Energy works closely with customers to improve the reliability, safety, and sustainability of their power assets while increasing the efficiency and productivity of operations and reducing maintenance costs.
