Rosond wins ‘Large Business of the Year’ at SAPCC Absa Business Excellence Awards 2022
Leading drilling technology solutions provider Rosond of Midrand won ‘Large Business of the Year’ at the 2022 South African Portuguese Chamber of Commerce (SAPCC) Absa Business Excellence Awards held in Houghton, Johannesburg on 5 November. “We are extremely proud of this recognition, which reflects the impact Rosond continues to have on the communities in which it operates and on the broader economy,” comments MD Ricardo Ribeiro.
Rosond provides products and services to all mining sectors. Its relationship and successful track record with Blue Chip major South African mining houses span decades. “Innovation is at our core. Relying on our capacity to find creative solutions, we are developing groundbreaking applications from a commercial and technological perspective that continue to advance drilling operations in the mining industry,” comments Ribeiro.
The Awards are the highlight of the SAPCC calendar, showcasing diverse businesses and entrepreneurs of excellence across ten major categories. “The Business Excellence Awards recognise, celebrate and showcase Portuguese and Luso-South African business leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals operating in South Africa,” explains SAPCC Executive Director Rui Marto.
One of Rosond’s latest achievements was having Ribeiro become an Advisory Board Member and official Enterprise Development partner of WiMBIZ, SA. This organisation was established to create a platform for women entrepreneurs, businesswomen and professional women to speak in one voice and access procurement opportunities and equity transactions in the mining sector.
As part of Rosond’s commitment to addressing diversity and inclusion in the broader mining industry, it is establishing an inaugural women’s forum at one of its drill sites in the Northern Cape to provide a platform to address ancillary issues such as family planning and financial literacy.
“There is a lot of responsibility involved in promoting gender equality in the mining industry, especially as we afford women the opportunity to be financially independent and to have viable careers,” says Ribeiro.
Rosond also recently finalised its 2022 bursary recipient scheme. Commencing in 2020, the scheme aims to assist the dependents of Rosond employees as well as deserving students in host communities who need financial assistance to complete their studies. The 2021 recipients attended an induction session at Rosond to introduce them to the business and the industry.
