Steinmüller Africa honours trailblazing women
Steinmüller Africa is proud to commemorate Women’s Month by shining a light on some of the women who contribute significantly to our daily operations. These women excel in their respective fields and uphold our mission to provide solutions, products and services to steam generation and process plants throughout their life cycle.
Patricia Makolane stands out as Steinmüller Africa’s only female piping technician. Her leadership is characterised by a transformational approach that focuses on the growth and development of her team. Patricia believes, “Understanding each individual is vital for achieving project deliverables on time. Personalising interactions rather than making generic assumptions greatly contributes to the team’s success and fulfilment.”
Looking to the future, Patricia is determined to advance her career by eventually transitioning to site manager. To the young women aiming for success in a similar field, she says, “Pressure comes with every job. Avoid assumptions, stick to facts, and always analyse situations carefully. Never stop planning—both professionally and personally. Without a plan, your day is wasted.”
Eva Mathebe serves as Steinmüller Africa’s project manager at Arnot Power Station. Her passion for training and achieving team goals shines through in her work. Eva shares, “Meeting team goals brings immense joy, especially when all milestones in safety, production, and quality are successfully achieved as planned.” She advocates for greater female representation in traditionally male roles, stating, “I’d like to see more women hired in roles such as project managers and quality control coordinators to bring more diversity to the industry.”
Having risen through the ranks, Priscilla Shibambo is Group Leader: Planning at Steinmüller Africa. Priscilla values learning and leadership development. “My leadership style has evolved through training and experience. I now lean towards directive and coaching styles to effectively mentor young talent,” she explains. On creativity and innovation, she adds, “Embracing creativity and innovation is essential for job satisfaction. By providing a platform and resources for creativity, I aim to bring out the best in my team. Staying grounded and confident in my unique strengths as a woman has been key to my motivation and success.”
Steinmüller Africa is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, celebrating exceptional women like Patricia, Eva, and Priscilla. Their contributions are not just shaping our current success but also inspiring future generations of leaders in the industry.
Happy Women’s Month!
